MY OLD RUSTY BED: I get so many questions about where and how I find my picking-treasures that I decided maybe it was time to start sharing some of my best finds and how they came about! So I'm going to start a new feature on the blog called " Picking with Chrys," and from time to time, I will feature some of my best finds and share with you the stories about them. So this is the first one, and I hope you enjoy it. Please feel free to ask me any questions you may have!

I'm going to start with this old, rusty bed that I decided I couldn't live without a few years ago. Mr. Blue (my husband) and I decided to take a day trip to Birmingham to go to some estate sales, and we visited one sale that had lots of wonderful old things, including this old bed. The problem was the price of the bed was more than I wanted to pay, and they were not willing to come down on the price because it was the first day of the sale. We left and headed home, but the entire way home, the bed kept calling my name! Fortunately, I had gotten their phone number, and I wasted no time the next morning calling them to see if it was still available. It was, and at that point, they were willing to come down on the price significantly! So we got in the car and headed back to Birmingham and brought it home with us where it belonged!!

I knew I had the perfect spot for it on my covered back porch, and I was right. When the weather is nice it's the best place to take a nap, read a book, or be still and quiet. It provides the perfect spot for watching birds in the tops of the big trees in my back yard. I discovered there is a whole other world full of busy, beautiful birds up there, and it was all because of this old, rusty bed! So don't hesitate to visit the estate sales on the second day, you never know what you might find, and you'll probably get a deal or two.
