I recently bought a magazine that was filled with pictures of all things vintage, shabby and farmhouse. I love looking at this type of magazine for all the wonderful eye candy and ideas! Well this particular magazine had a photo of a dining room that stopped me in my tracks! I loved everything about it!

The next thing I knew, our current dining room furniture was for sale and “Mr. Blue” and I were making plans to build a farm table to replace our existing table. Once the dining room furniture sold and the new table was finished, I had to get busy pulling a new dining room together. It was going to be a totally different feel and style than the old one. One thing shown in the magazine with the farmhouse table was a collection of mismatched old wicker chairs around the table. So off I went to find my own collection of mismatched wicker chairs. I soon discovered that a friend had some old painted wicker chairs for sale that were similar in style but no two were exactly alike. They were just what I had in mind and the perfect color. What were the odds of that?

With that task checked off of the list, I went shopping in my own house and selected other things I already had to furnish and decorate the rest of the room. I chose a set of beautiful old windows for over the mantle pared with old books and crystal candleholders to create just the look I was going for! I also chose an old painted empire buffet and placed my favorite vintage scales and ironstone on it. I also used a beautiful and unique green painted pie safe filled with more ironstone and a family of vintage concrete chickens took up residency beneath it! Another item I used was an old chest with a collection of plates hanging above it and my favorite swan pitcher on a vintage silver tray.

Although I never consider myself completely finished with a room, because I am constantly moving things around and making small changes, for now I am in love with my “new” dining room and I am very excited to be able to share it with you! Let us know what you think.
